This is a 3d model from NASA web-site, which is quite crispy and just conceptual polygone model(STL).
it seems good enough for visualization purpose, but not water-tight and it contains very broken features so that it's not easy to be utilized for any manufacturing purpose,even 3d printing.
Used Geomagic Design X to remodel and create the following NURBS-format CAD data, which took approximately 25 hours. Each shape detail was modeled using the feature modeling method, and the process was carried out in the same way as other design processes,such as sketching,extruding,revolving,etc based on the polygon model.
The model was designed to be compatible with various manufacturing methods, such as 3D printing and injection molding through mold making, and it can also be used for motion simulation.
